Your tama starts out as a baby. Feed it, play with it, and clean up after it for basically a full hour. It becomes less needy after that.
Your tama will be a child for the next 24 hours. Get to know all the activities on your tama! Try going to the park, trying on accessories, playing with items, and playing the games.
After 24 hours, your tama will evolve to teen. It will be a teen for 24 hours. It’s less needy than a child, but continue to take care of its needs. Or, if there’s a specific tama you want to raise, see if you need to do any care misses.

If you have any Smacards and want to raise a Smacard character, make sure you download the data and use the appropriate item/food while your tama is in the child and teen phases.
Remember you can only use the data from one Smacard at a time. Each card comes with free food, items, accessories, and wallpapers. (note: Smacards are a separate purchase)
Now that the 24 hours is up, you’ll have an adult! The adult can get married right away, but if you keep it and keep it happy for about 48 hours, you’ll get their fondness icon. That a badge your tama gives you to show that you’re best friends. ☺️
As an adult you should try playing with the items and try on accessories to see if you can find their favourites. You can also try all the different foods and snacks that are there to order on your Delivery App. Play the different games at the “tama work” to earn gotchi points. And visit the park often to meet NPCs. Sometimes, depending on the season, a special animation or mini game will happen at the park.
When you’re ready for your tama to get married, you use the dating app on your tama’s phone to go on a date. After the date they’ll ask to marry. If you say yes, you’ll get a new egg and the process starts all over.

<aside> 💡 Some more tips about the Smart When you visit the backyard a bird will sometimes come and bring you treasure. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s junk. Visit the backyard a few times a day until you meet the bird.
Sometimes your tama will call out and an idle animation will play. When you’re a kid there’s one where they throw a toy in the toilet. They don’t want anything, they’re just being cute and they want you to see.
They cry if you call the sitter (smaspichi) to watch them but it’s fine, they don’t actually care. Call the sitter whenever you need a break. They can stay with it until 6pm.
They sleep in til 8am if you don’t poke them awake at 7am.

<aside> 💟 The fastest way to raise happiness on the Smart is to pet it for several minutes, or to use the “talk” function. The talk function does not require real words, just air. You can blow on it, or place it in front of a desk fan, for a few minutes to max out happiness. It is also safe to use snacks.

<aside> 🎈 Items do not last forever on the Smart. It is the first Tamagotchi where the items will eventually break. After 30 or so uses, any toy you’ve purchased will “poof” away. You can repurchase that item from the Tamagotchi’s App. If you buy multiple items at once, they break one at a time.
